KNEC Releases List of Required Items for KPSEA and KJSEA 2025 Candidates

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued an official list of essential items that learners sitting for the Grade 6 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Grade 9 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) must have during this year’s national exams.

According to KNEC, the move aims to ensure learners are fully prepared for the upcoming assessments scheduled to begin later this month.

KPSEA 2025 Exam Schedule and Requirements

The KPSEA will commence on Monday, October 27, 2025, and run for three days, featuring five examinable papers. Rehearsals will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025.

KPSEA 2025 Timetable

Friday, 24th October 2025Rehearsal Day

Day 1 – Monday, 27th October 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 9:50 a.m.: Mathematics (1 hr 20 min)
  • 10:20 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 10:50 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.: English (1 hr)

Day 2 – Tuesday, 28th October 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.: Integrated Science (1 hr 40 min)
  • 10:40 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 11:10 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.: Kiswahili (1 hr)

Day 3 – Wednesday, 29th October 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.: Creative Arts & Social Studies (1 hr 40 min)

KPSEA 2025 Required Items

KNEC advises all Grade 6 candidates to carry the following items to their examination centres:

  • Geometrical set – Ksh 350
  • HB pencil – Ksh 30
  • Pen – Ksh 10
  • 30cm ruler – Ksh 30

KJSEA 2025 Exam Schedule and Requirements

The Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) will also begin on Monday, October 27, 2025, with rehearsals taking place on Friday, October 24, 2025 — the same day as KPSEA rehearsals. The assessment will run for six days and feature fourteen examinable papers.

  • 10:40 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 11:10 a.m. – 12:55 p.m.: English Composition & Literary Analysis (901/2)

Day 2 – Tuesday, 28th October 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Mathematics (903)
  • 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 11:30 a.m. – 1:10 p.m.: Agriculture (906/1)

Day 3 – Wednesday, 29th October 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.: Kiswahili Lugha (902/1)
  • 10:40 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 11:10 a.m. – 12:55 p.m.: Kiswahili Insha na Utangulizi wa Fasihi (902/2)

Day 4 – Thursday, 30th October 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.: Integrated Science (905/1)
  • 10:40 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 11:10 a.m. – 12:50 p.m.: Pre-Technical Studies (912/1)

Day 5 – Friday, 31st October 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: Integrated Science Paper 2 (905/2)
  • 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 11:10 a.m. – 12:50 p.m.: Creative Arts & Sports (911/2)

Day 6 – Monday, 3rd November 2025

  • 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: Social Studies (907)
  • 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.: Break (30 min)
  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Christian Religious Education (908)
  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Islamic Religious Education (909)
  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Hindu Religious Education (910)

KJSEA 2025 Required Items

KNEC requires all Grade 9 learners to have the following items during the assessment period:

  • Scientific calculator (Casio) – Ksh 1,200
  • Geometrical set – Ksh 350
  • HB pencil – Ksh 30
  • Pen – Ksh 10
  • 30cm ruler – Ksh 30
  • Mathematical table (four-figure) – Ksh 500

The council emphasized that all learners must ensure they have these essential items to avoid disruptions during the exams. School heads have also been advised to remind parents and guardians to prepare their children adequately ahead of the assessments.
