TSC Starts Inviting Applicants for Verification in Replacement Teacher Jobs – December 2025

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially begun inviting applicants who applied for the 9,159 replacement teaching vacancies advertised in November 2025. The recruitment exercise is now moving into the document verification stage after the application portal closed on December 8, 2025.

Shortlisted candidates have started receiving SMS invitations from TSC, informing them of their interview and verification dates, which will begin next week Monday.

Breakdown of the Replacement Vacancies

According to TSC, the 9,159 vacancies are distributed as follows:

  • 7,065 positions – Primary Schools
  • 12 positions – Junior Secondary Schools
  • 2,082 positions – Secondary Schools

All successful applicants will be hired on Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) terms to replace teachers who left service through natural attrition such as retirement, resignation, or death.

Who Is Eligible for the Jobs?

To qualify for the replacement vacancies, applicants must:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
  • Hold a P1 certificate for Primary School posts
  • Hold at least a Diploma in Education for Junior Secondary and Secondary School posts

The recruitment also offers a major opportunity for P1 teachers who have waited for years without mass employment, as well as Junior School intern teachers seeking permanent positions.

Documents Required for Verification – Primary School Teachers

Applicants invited for verification must present originals and photocopies of the following:

  1. National ID
  2. TSC Registration Certificate
  3. UDPTE Certificate (where applicable)
  4. PTE Certificate
  5. KCSE Certificates (including all attempts)
  6. KCPE Certificates
  7. KNEC Results Certification Letter (where applicable)
  8. School Leaving Certificates and Testimonials
  9. NCPWD Card (if applicable)
  10. Sworn Affidavit for name differences (if any)

Documents Required for JSS and Secondary School Teachers

Applicants must present:

  1. National ID
  2. TSC Registration Certificate
  3. Diploma or Degree Certificates and Transcripts
  4. KCSE Certificates (all attempts)
  5. KCPE Certificates
  6. School Leaving Certificates and Testimonials
  7. NCPWD Card (if applicable)
  8. Sworn Affidavit for name differences
  9. KNEC Results Certification Letter (if applicable)

Special Case for Intern Teachers

Serving intern teachers who scored 50 marks during the selection process will only be required to present their National ID cards during verification.

Persons living with disabilities must clearly state the type and nature of their disability to guide placement.

Merit List and Public Access

After verification, the TSC Sub-County Director will compile a Merit List of all qualified applicants. These lists will be available to the public on request, in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019.

Important Rules from TSC

TSC has reminded applicants that:

  • Recruitment guidelines for 2025/2026 will apply
  • Merit lists will be used in future recruitments within the financial year
  • Candidates must submit only one application
  • Manual applications are not accepted
  • Preference is given to applicants who have never been employed by TSC
  • Successful candidates may be posted anywhere in Kenya
