14 Government Job Vacancies Announced by Kakamega Count The County Government of Kakamega has officially announced 14 new job openings across various departments, as part of its commitment to achieving the goals of Kenya Vision 2030 and the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP). In accordance with the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the County Governments Act No. 17 of 2012, the county is inviting applications from qualified and passionate professionals who are ready to drive efficient service delivery and support development initiatives.
Job Contract Terms and Equality Commitment
Selected candidates will be employed on either a two-year or three-year renewable contract, subject to performance. Vacancy 1: County Chief Officers (13 Positions)
Job Group: CPSB 02/P
Salary Range: Ksh.137,070 – Ksh.203,010 per month
Contract: 2 years (renewable)
Chief Officers will report to their respective County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) and manage operations, policy implementation, and service delivery in their departments.

- Finance, Economic Planning, ICT & e-Government: Chief Officer, ICT; Chief Officer, Economic Planning & Investment
- Roads, Energy & Public Works: Chief Officer, Roads and Energy
- Lands, Housing, Urban Areas & Physical Planning: Chief Officer, Housing & Physical Planning
- Public Service & County Administration: Chief Officer, County Administration
- Health Services: Chief Officer, Medical Services
- Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperatives: Chief Officer, Livestock & Veterinary Services
- Social Services, Youth, Sports, Gender, Culture & Library Services: Chief Officer, Social Services, Gender & Culture; Chief Officer, Library & Archival Services
- Communication: Chief Officer, Communication
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and coordinate departmental activities
- Implement strategic development plans in line with county goals
- Lead policy direction and resource management
- Ensure accountability, innovation, and compliance
- Facilitate coordination across county and national institutions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Kenyan citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s degree is a plus)
- At least 10 years of work experience, with 5 years in senior leadership
- Proven skills in strategic management and governance
- Strong understanding of public sector systems
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution
Vacancy 2: Director of Human Resource Management (1 Position)
Job Group: CPSB 03/R
Salary Range: Ksh.124,000 – Ksh.172,350 per month
Contract: 3 years (renewable)

Duties Include:
- Developing and enforcing HR policies and structures
- Overseeing staffing, promotions, and performance reviews
- Advising on succession planning and HR strategy
- Driving employee training, welfare, and inclusive work culture
- Ensuring compliance with labor laws and HR best practices
- Leading onboarding and staff induction
- Providing advisory support to the County HR Advisory Committee
Eligibility Criteria:
- Kenyan citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree in HRM or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 10 years’ HR experience with 5 years at a senior level
- Certified member of IHRM (K) with a valid practicing license
- Knowledge of labor legislation and HR strategy
- Completion of a Strategic Leadership Development Program is an added advantage
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution
