TSC – The requirements for promoting teachers.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), operating as a Constitutional Commission per Article 237 (1) of the Constitution, has announced the requirements and guidelines for promoting teachers. Qualified teachers are encouraged to apply for the available positions as outlined by the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers.
Interested candidates must submit their applications online through the TSC portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke by September 8, 2024. Manual applications will not be considered.

Pre-Appointment Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to present the following Chapter 6 documents before appointment:
- Certificate of Good Conduct: From the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
- Clearance Certificate: From the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Tax Compliance Certificate: From the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Clearance: From the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
- Credit Clearance Certificate: From an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

Requirements for Appointment:
- Experience: Must have worked as a Primary Teacher I (T-Scale 6) for at least three years.
- Performance Appraisal: Must have a satisfactory rating.
- Chapter Six Compliance: Must fulfill the conditions outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
- Additional Requirements: Must satisfy any other requirement set by the Commission.
Note: Candidates in arid and hard-to-staff counties who have worked in their current grade for at least two years are eligible.

Number of Positions: 700
Requirements for Appointment:
- Experience: Must have worked as a Primary Teacher I (T-Scale 6) for at least three years.
- Education: Must hold at least a Diploma in Special Needs Education (in the specified area).
- Performance Appraisal: Must have a satisfactory rating.
- Chapter Six Compliance: Must fulfill the conditions outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
- Additional Requirements: Must satisfy any other requirement set by the Commission.
