TSC Starts2025 Document Verification for Teacher Replacements

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has commenced the document verification process for teachers who had applied for replacement positions. This follows a period of delay caused by the ongoing promotion interviews for primary and post-primary school teachers, which had occupied TSC officials.

Invitation for Verification

Selected candidates have started receiving official invitation messages from TSC’s Ganze Sub-County Director’s office, directing them to report for the verification exercise. One such message instructed an applicant to appear at Ganze Primary School on Monday, 17th February 2025, at 8:30 AM, bringing both original and photocopies of essential documents.

Candidates must present their national identification card, TSC registration certificate, academic credentials (from KCPE to degree level), official transcripts, school leaving certificates, and the graduation page listing their name. Additionally, applicants whose names differ across documents are required to provide a sworn affidavit explaining the discrepancies.

Overview of the Replacement Exercise

This replacement exercise, which is being conducted under permanent and pensionable terms, aims to fill 8,707 vacancies left by teachers who exited the service through natural attrition.

The Commission had previously advertised:

  • 5,862 positions for primary schools,
  • 21 positions for junior secondary schools, and
  • 2,824 positions for secondary schools.

Deployment of the successful candidates to their respective schools is scheduled to begin at the end of February 2025 and continue until May 2025.

Mandatory Documents for Verification

TSC has provided a comprehensive list of documents that candidates must present for verification. Applicants are required to bring both original and clear photocopies of their credentials, which will be reviewed by the recruitment panel.

Required Documents for Primary School Teachers

  • National identification card;
  • Certificate of Registration as a teacher;
  • Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE) certificate (if applicable);
  • PTE certificate;
  • KCPE and KCSE certificates (including multiple attempts where applicable);
  • Letter of Certification of results from KNEC, if necessary;
  • Primary and secondary school leaving certificates and other relevant testimonials;
  • National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card, if applicable;

Required Documents for Post-Primary Teachers (Junior Secondary and Secondary Schools)

Special Considerations for Intern Teachers and Persons with Disabilities

Teachers currently serving as interns under TSC will only need to present their national identification card during the verification process. Additionally, individuals with disabilities must declare their disability status and its nature to assist TSC in ensuring appropriate placement and support.

Compilation of Merit Lists and Public Access

Once the verification process is completed, TSC Sub-County Directors will compile a Merit List of candidates who successfully met the document requirements.

For transparency, TSC has assured that these Merit Lists will be accessible to the public upon request, while still complying with the Data Protection Act, 2019, to safeguard personal information.

Additional Marks in the Recruitment Process

As part of the current recruitment cycle, TSC has introduced additional 30 marks for teachers currently working under internship terms. Furthermore, teachers who upgraded from PTE to UDPTE qualifications have been awarded an extra 5 marks, acknowledging their advanced training.

This recruitment exercise seeks to ensure that schools across the country receive qualified teachers while maintaining fairness and transparency in the selection process.
