TSC scorecard for recruitment of primary teachers to PNP 2024.

The Panel Score Sheet for Primary School Teachers provides a detailed scoring system used in the recruitment and selection process for primary school teachers. The total possible score is 100 points, and the areas of evaluation include professional qualifications, age, length of stay since qualification, current internship status, and possession of a diploma in primary teacher education.

Breakdown of Scoring Areas

A. Professional P1 Qualifications (Maximum Score: 5 points) Teachers are awarded points based on their P1 qualifications. The scores range from 2 to 5 points, depending on the points achieved during qualification:

  • 6 – 28 points: 2 points
  • 29 – 50 points: 3 points
  • 51 – 64 points: 5 points

This scoring area evaluates the teacher’s foundational academic performance.

B. Age (Maximum Score: 20 points) Points are awarded according to the teacher’s age, with older candidates receiving higher scores:

  • 50 years old and above: 20 points
  • 47 – 49 years old: 15 points
  • 44 – 46 years old: 10 points
  • 43 years old and below: 5 points

This category reflects the prioritization of older teachers with more experience and less opportunity for future employment.

C. Length of Stay Since Qualifying as a Teacher (Maximum Score: 70 points) This section gives higher scores to teachers who have been qualified longer but have yet to secure employment, addressing those who have been waiting for a chance to be employed. Points range from 5 to 20:

  • 2010 and before: 20 points
  • 2024: 5 points

Teachers who qualified earlier are rewarded more to reflect their longer wait times.

D. Currently Serving as an Intern with the Commission (Maximum Score: 50 points) Teachers currently interning with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) receive 50 points, emphasizing the Commission’s preference for recruiting its interns.

E. Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (CBC Upgrade) (Maximum Score: 5 points) Teachers with a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education or those who have undergone the CBC (Competency-Based Curriculum) upgrade are awarded an additional 5 points.

Conclusion

This scoring system is designed to ensure fairness, by balancing qualifications, experience, and current engagement with TSC, with a heavy emphasis on teachers who have waited longer to be employed and those who are actively interning. The total score out of 100 determines a teacher’s ranking in the recruitment process.
