New Head Teacher (SNE) T-Scale Lucrative Salary T-Scale 12 p.m.

Teachers placed under Special Needs Education (SNE) by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) play a crucial role in shaping the learning experiences for students with diverse needs. Recognizing the specialized nature of their work, TSC provides slightly higher salaries for these educators compared to those in regular schools. This is particularly true for the top leaders in these institutions, such as Head Teachers of SNE schools, who are tasked with overseeing the management and development of specialized programs tailored to meet the unique requirements of students with special needs.

The significance of these Head Teachers has been acknowledged within a specific pay scale known as T-Scale 12. This salary bracket is designed to appropriately compensate Head Teachers in SNE institutions, reflecting the importance and complexity of their roles.

Under the current T-Scale 12 salary structure for Head Teachers in Special Needs schools, the monthly basic salary is determined by specific salary points, which increase with experience and tenure. The following are the salary points and their corresponding basic salaries:

  • Salary Point 1: KES 92,119
  • Salary Point 2: KES 95,101
  • Salary Point 3: KES 97,552
  • Salary Point 4: KES 100,661
  • Salary Point 5: KES 103,861
  • Salary Point 6: KES 107,157
  • Salary Point 7: KES 110,551

In addition to the basic salary, Head Teachers of SNE schools under T-Scale 12 are also entitled to various allowances designed to supplement their income and provide additional financial support. These allowances are particularly important given the specialized nature of their roles within the education sector.

One key allowance is the house allowance, which is determined by the grade of the teacher and the location of their school. According to the TSC scale, the monthly house allowance for Head Teachers in SNE schools under Grade D2 varies based on the locality of the school, categorized into different clusters:

  • Cluster 1 (Nairobi City): KES 45,000
  • Cluster 2 (Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and other cities): KES 28,000
  • Cluster 3 (Municipalities like Nyeri, Eldoret, Thika, and other mapped areas): KES 21,000
  • Cluster 4 (All other areas): KES 18,066

These allowances are designed to recognize the additional responsibilities and challenges that come with managing an SNE school, ensuring that Head Teachers in these institutions are adequately compensated for their efforts.

The new TSC salary structure for Head Teachers in SNE schools under T-Scale 12 offers a lucrative and well-deserved compensation package that acknowledges the critical role these educators play in the lives of students with special needs.
