Key Responsibilities
Game Rangers will serve as the first line of defense in conservation areas. Core duties include:
- Wildlife Protection: Combatting poaching and enforcing conservation laws
- Tourist Safety: Guiding and protecting visitors in game parks
- Environmental Crime Investigation: Supporting legal processes through surveillance, reporting, and evidence gathering
- Rescue Operations: Assisting in both animal and human emergencies
- Intelligence Gathering: Engaging with communities and monitoring illegal activity
- Operational Duties: Parade activities, patrol management, sentry duties, and deployment logistics
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, candidates must:
- Be Kenyan citizens, aged 18–28
- Hold at least a KCSE D- (minus) or equivalent
- Have a valid National ID, Certificate of Good Conduct, and a clean criminal record
- Be physically and mentally fit, with good hearing and vision
- Meet minimum height requirements (5’4″ for men, 5’2″ for women)
- Be computer literate
- For women: Not be pregnant during recruitment or initial training
- Fulfill Chapter Six of the Constitution on integrity and ethics
Mandatory Training
Successful candidates will undergo a six-month paramilitary training program, fully sponsored by the Narok County Government. The training will cover:
- Wildlife law enforcement
- Field survival and first aid
- Ethics and professional conduct
- Conservation techniques and patrol operations
