Ministry of Education Announces 1,000 Paid Internship Vacancies, The Ministry of Education, through the State Department for Basic Education, has officially opened applications for 1,000 internship opportunities under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP). This initiative, now in its fourth phase, is targeting qualified diploma and degree graduates who are eager to play a vital role in advancing digital learning in Kenya’s primary schools.

These paid internships offer graduates a hands-on platform to support the rollout of digital education tools while gaining valuable professional experience in the public education sector.

About the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Internship

The DLP internship program is part of the government’s broader plan to integrate ICT in education and support Kenya’s Vision 2030 and Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Interns will be deployed to Sub County Education Offices and public primary schools across the country.

They will collaborate with education stakeholders such as headteachers, curriculum officers, ICT champions, and county education directors to enhance digital learning systems.

Key Details of the Internship

  • Duration: 12 months (non-renewable)
  • Monthly Stipend: Provided by the Government of Kenya
  • Certification: Issued upon successful completion of the program

Roles and Responsibilities

Selected interns will support digital learning in schools by performing the following duties:

  • Assisting with e-learning content development based on school curricula
  • Training teachers on the use of digital devices and tools
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure
  • Promoting safe, secure, and ethical use of technology in classrooms
  • Assisting in ICT integration in teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Helping schools develop digital learning policies and guidelines
  • Innovating to improve digital adoption in schools

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma from a recognized institution
  • Demonstrate strong skills in problem-solving, innovation, and teamwork
  • Be ready to work full-time in any Sub County across Kenya, including rural and underserved areas
  • Be self-driven and adaptable to different school environments

Deployment Details

Interns will be assigned to Sub County Education Offices and public primary schools across the country, based on regional needs and equitable distribution. They should be willing to serve in both urban and remote areas.
