KNEC Sends Out SMS Invitations for KJSEA Examiners Training – Apply Now!
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially started inviting teachers for the upcoming Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) examiners training. Thousands of teachers who applied in July have begun receiving SMS notifications confirming their selection and training details.
Invitation Details via SMS
Successful applicants have been notified via text message. Here’s an example of what the SMS reads:
“You have been identified to participate in the training of KJSEA examiners. You are requested to report to Murang’a TTC on 3rd August 2025 between 2pm and 6pm. The training is strictly residential. Please carry personal effects and a passport photo. The exercise will run until 12th August 2025. Confirm availability via email to pmutiso@knec.ac.ke by 2nd August 2025.”
The training will be partially online and partially physical, with the physical sessions being strictly residential at selected training centres.
What is the KJSEA Training About?
This training prepares teachers to mark the KJSEA Grade 9 national assessment, scheduled for 27th October to 3rd November 2025, with rehearsals on 24th October.
More than two million learners are expected to sit for the assessment, which includes 12 examinable subjects.
Eligibility Criteria for Examiners
To be eligible for the August 2025 KJSEA training, applicants must:
- Be a practicing teacher in the subject applied for
- Be employed by the TSC or Public Service Commission
- Hold a Diploma in Education or higher
- Have at least 3 years of teaching experience
- Be 50 years or younger
- Have a recommendation from their head of institution
- Not be under disciplinary action or interdiction
Note: Tutors from TTCs and TVET institutions are encouraged to apply for practical subjects like Art, Music, Computer Studies, Woodwork, Metalwork, and Building & Construction.

- Login using CP2 credentials
- If you don’t have an account, click “Create Account” and follow the prompts
- Complete your personal profile
- Click on “Apply for Training” and select the paper/subject
- Submit all required documents
Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Only teachers who meet all KNEC criteria will be selected to undergo training. Successful trainees may later be engaged as KJSEA examiners during the 2025 marking exercise.
