Overview:

Mount Kenya Academy, a prestigious day and boarding co-educational school, is inviting applications from highly qualified educators for the position of Secondary Teacher. The academy offers both the Kenya National Curriculum and the British Curriculum, providing a rich and diverse educational environment. We are looking for a dynamic teacher capable of handling subjects up to the Cambridge A-LEVEL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in your respective subjects.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Develop and administer assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Student Engagement: Utilize modern teaching methods to engage and inspire students, fostering a love for learning.
  • Extra-Curricular Involvement: Participate in and potentially lead extra-curricular activities to support student development outside the classroom.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest educational methodologies and attend relevant training sessions.
  • Discipline and Safety: Maintain discipline and ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and any concerns.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff on school initiatives and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Subject Expertise: Competence in teaching any two of the following subjects:
    • Mathematics
    • Geography
    • ICT / Computer
    • Physics
    • Food and Nutrition/Home Science
  • Educational Background: A Degree in Education is required.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of teaching experience, with proven success in handling KCPE/KCSE/IGCSE candidate classes and achieving exemplary results.
  • Extra-Curricular Skills: Involvement in extra-curricular activities is essential.
  • Certification: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
  • Background Check: Possession of a Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Teaching Methods: Knowledge of modern teaching methods and practices.
  • Lesson Planning: Proficiency in planning, preparing, and delivering differentiated lessons.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent intra- and interpersonal skills.
