Grade 9 Senior School Selection to Begin on May 20
The Ministry of Education has announced that Grade 9 learners will start selecting their preferred Senior Schools beginning May 20, 2025, through the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS). Learners will choose 12 schools, categorized into national, regional, and county levels, while also selecting preferred academic pathways such as:
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
- Social Sciences and Humanities
- Performing Arts and Music
- Physical Education and Sports
In a key update, Mathematics has been reinstated as a compulsory subject for all pathways, reinforcing the importance of numeracy in all disciplines. Parents and educators are urged to guide learners wisely, especially since this is a major step under the CBC’s senior school tracking system aimed at personalizing education and career development.
