Step-by-Step Guide for Selecting Grade 10 Pathways Under CBC
Grade 10 Senior School Pathway Selection Guide – Ministry of Education (CBC Update 2025), The Ministry of Education has officially launched the Grade 10 Senior School Pathway Selection System, allowing learners to choose their preferred career track in alignment with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Through the online portal, students, parents, and educators can now access a user-friendly platform to guide pathway and senior school selections.

Available Pathways for Grade 10 Learners
Students can select one of the following three pathways, based on their interests and abilities:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
- Social Sciences
- Creative Arts & Sports
Each pathway is linked to a variety of future career opportunities and is offered by specific accredited senior schools
Support from Teachers and Parents Is Crucial
School heads and teachers are encouraged to guide learners in making informed choices. Parents and guardians should also be actively involved to ensure each learner is placed in a pathway that best suits their talents and career goals.
How to Log into the Senior School Selection Portal
- Open any browser and search: “senior school selection portal”, then click the first result.
- On the homepage, click “Log In”. (On mobile, tap the three horizontal lines to find the login button.)
- Enter your Junior School NEMIS UIC and password.
- Use the verification code: 54321 (only for the pilot phase).
- Once logged in, click on “Pathway Selection”.
- A list of all Grade 9 KJSEA learners will appear.
Updating Learner Profiles
For each learner:
- Update their personal profile.
- Indicate any special needs.
- Mark the attendees involved in the selection process (parent/guardian, head of institution, class teacher, or learner).
- Enter parent/guardian details.
- Fill in the learner’s home and residence county/sub-county.
- Optionally, add any comments.
- Click “Submit” to confirm.
Selecting the Career Pathway
- Choose only one pathway per learner: STEM, Social Sciences, or Creative Arts & Sports.
- Confirm to proceed.
- View the subject combinations available within the selected pathway.
- Select three (3) subject combinations that suit the learner.
- Click “Submit”.
Selecting Senior Schools
- For each subject combination:
- Select four (4) schools, one from each of the four clusters.
- After selecting, that subject combination will be marked as completed.
- Repeat this process for all three selected subject combinations.
- Once complete, you can download or print the learner’s profile.
- Note: This platform is separate from NEMIS – do not use NEMIS for pathway selections.
