Government Reaffirms Commitment to Cover Exam Fees
The Ministry of Education has reassured Kenyan parents that examination fees for learners will remain fully covered by the government, despite ongoing budgetary constraints.

Speaking at a public address at Kiirua Technical Training Institute, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that no learner is denied access to national examinations due to financial limitations.

“We understand the economic challenges that many families are facing, and I want to assure parents that the government is working closely with the Treasury to ensure examination fees are fully funded,” said CS Ogamba.

The reassurance comes amid concerns raised by school heads and parents regarding the delay in capitation disbursements and proposed budget cuts in the education sector. The Ministry has initiated high-level consultations to protect essential services, including exam funding, under the Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE) and Free Primary Education (FPE) programs.

The CS also used the occasion to encourage students to remain focused in their studies and called on school administrations to avoid sending learners home for fees, especially in the current financial climate.
