Purpose of the Job
The Social Worker is responsible for developing intervention strategies to address various issues faced by special needs children, such as discrimination and learning difficulties. The role involves collaborating with parents, teachers, and school administrators to ensure children’s safety and happiness. Additionally, the Social Worker identifies and reports severe problems, such as child abuse and neglect.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Identify children and communities in need of assistance with special needs facility services.
- Assess clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals.
- Help clients, especially those with children with special needs, adjust to changes and challenges in their lives.
- Research, refer, and advocate for community resources like food stamps, childcare, and healthcare to enhance a child’s well-being.
- Respond to crisis situations, including child abuse and mental health emergencies.
- Monitor clients’ situations and follow up to ensure improvements.
- Maintain case files and records.
- Provide psychotherapy services.
- Conduct home visits for children and assess their needs.
- Conduct home background checks and offer feedback to the organization regarding parents’ socioeconomic status.
- Refer children with special needs to the facility.
- Issue reports on home visits, action plans, and recommendations for each case.
- Disseminate neuro policy to all new neuro clients.
- Determine copay for active neuro patients.
- Address concerns of patients lacking social support for treatment.
- Follow up to ensure clients pay the required amounts for medications and services.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Three to four years of experience in social work, case management, or a related field.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with community resources, social services, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Commitment to helping others.
