APPLY NOW UNEP as UN volunteer (2024-2025)
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) have collaborated to introduce the Young Talent Pipeline initiative, designed to identify and nurture young professionals passionate about environmental issues. This joint effort aims to engage individuals in tackling pressing global challenges such as climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.
The UNEP UNV Young Talent Pipeline initiative has two primary objectives:
Firstly, it aims to deploy a cohort of 12 young talented individuals who will contribute to UNEP’s mandate in various thematic areas. These individuals will bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to environmental sustainability.
Secondly, the initiative seeks global representation by specifically encouraging candidates from regions including Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. This diversity ensures a broad spectrum of experiences and viewpoints in addressing global environmental issues.
To qualify for the program, applicants must meet specific criteria:
- Age Requirement: Candidates should be 33 years old or younger at the time of application.
- Academic Qualifications: Applicants must hold relevant academic degrees related to environmental studies, sustainability, or other relevant fields.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of three years of professional experience in fields related to environmental issues, sustainable development, or relevant sectors is required.
- Passion for Environmental Issues: Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to addressing climate change, pollution, nature loss, and biodiversity conservation through their academic and professional pursuits.
Selected candidates will be stationed at UNEP’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, starting their assignments in November 2024 for a duration of 12 months, with the potential for extension based on performance and program needs. This opportunity not only provides a platform for young professionals to contribute substantively to global environmental efforts but also offers valuable experience in an international organization committed to sustainable development.
