The National Housing Corporation (NHC), a statutory body established under Cap. 117, is tasked with implementing government housing policies and programs. NHC is seeking motivated and results-driven individuals to join their team as Quantity Surveyors.
Quantity Surveyor – NHC/69/2024
NHC Job Grade: 7
Job Specification:
Responsibilities at this level include:
- Participating in planning and analysis for housing and infrastructure projects
- Preparing cost estimates for housing and infrastructure projects
- Preparing project financial estimates (expenditure & income) and scheduling for budgeting
- Preparing tender and contract documents for projects
- Participating in procurement processes for housing and infrastructure projects
- Measuring works and preparing interim payment valuations and certificates
- Undertaking valuations of variations due to site instructions or design revisions
- Participating in evaluation of contractual claims
- Undertaking financial appraisals to monitor and control costs
- Measuring works and preparing final accounts and certificates for project closure
- Collecting, maintaining, and updating data on construction rates and building material prices
- Preparing material schedules and labor costs for maintenance works
- Providing necessary documents and expertise for dispute resolution
- Determining the selling price of completed housing units
- Guiding Quantity Survey Assistants in their duties
Person Specification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Survey, Building Economics, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Quantity Surveying Assistant – NHC/76/2024
NHC Job Grade: 9
Job Specification:
Responsibilities at this level include:
- Documenting procedures and standards for Quantity Survey and contract documentation
- Preparing material schedules, bills of quantities, and tender documents
- Developing print-outs and copies of tender and contract documents
- Consolidating, referencing, and custody of documents
- Supervising projects, cost analysis, and reporting on building and construction costs
- Conducting project costing appraisals in collaboration with Engineers and Architects
Person Specification:
- Diploma in Quantity Survey, Building Economics, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Terms of Service and Remuneration
Positions in Grades 4 to 12 are permanent and pensionable. Successful candidates will receive a competitive remuneration package in line with the Corporation’s Salary Structure.
