Overview

Primary Purpose
The Driver is responsible for providing logistical support and driving for CWS field staff and visitors as needed.
Reporting Structure
- Direct Report: Project Officer – Agricultural Education and Extension
- Dotted Line: Administrative Manager
Key Relationships
- Internal: Administration, Finance, Operations, CWS Kenya Finance and Admin team, Administration departments
- External: Vendors, Communities, Partners
Work Environment
- Field environment with periodic travel to other field locations and the Nairobi office.
Core Job Responsibilities
Program Administration (60%)
- Drive CWS Africa motor vehicles for assigned duties.
- Maintain and clean CWS Africa vehicles.
- Conduct regular mechanical checks and report issues.
- Ensure safe transportation for CWS Africa staff and visitors.
- Manage mail, weigh and affix stamps on letters and packages.
- Adhere to road safety regulations.
- Transport goods and materials securely.
- Perform clerical duties like photocopying and packing supplies.
- Conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks.
- Make simple purchases and obtain quotations.
- Ensure vehicles have at least half a tank of fuel.
- Maintain effective communication with staff and report any issues.
Compliance (15%)
- Adhere to organizational policies and vehicle safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with local traffic regulations.
Data Management and Analysis (20%)
- Maintain accurate delivery records.
- Keep detailed records of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Submit regular vehicle maintenance and usage reports.
Additional Responsibilities (5%)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum two years of driving experience (categories B, C1 & C) for manual and automatic vehicles.
- Experience with categories A1 and A2 is an added advantage.
Skills
- Basic motor vehicle mechanics knowledge.
- Familiarity with driving in rural areas and specifically in Marsabit.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Education & Certifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driving License (Class B, C1, C).
- Defensive Driving Certificate.

- Ability to travel in sub-Saharan Africa on short notice.
- Background check required.
- Valid passport required.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to noise, temperature changes, dust, infectious diseases, harsh weather, long hours, bumpy roads, and excessive sun.
Full-time Position
- Based in Marsabit, Kenya.
- Employees should work from the CWS office within their location of hire, with remote work arrangements varying by location and COVID-19 regulations.
