The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, Cap. 117, tasked with implementing government housing policies and programs. NHC is seeking motivated and results-driven individuals to join their team as Estates Assistants.
Estates Assistant – NHC/75/2024
NHC Job Grade: 9
Job Specification:
Responsibilities at this level include:
- Implementing estates management policies, strategies, procedures, and standards/guidelines in line with the Corporation’s key corporate objectives
- Administering lease and tenant purchase agreements per the Corporation’s policies and guidelines
- Collecting rent and tenant purchase loan repayments
- Assessing rent levels for approval and carrying out rent reviews of all Corporation property
- Addressing tenants’ problems, welfare, and disputes
- Conducting pre-occupancy education for tenants/purchasers of NHC estates
- Undertaking repairs and maintenance of Corporation property
- Conducting inspections and preparing and implementing maintenance schedules
- Preparing, collecting, and accounting for service charges
- Administering service contracts for common services such as security, cleaning, and garbage collection
- Ensuring prompt payment of statutory payments (land rates, land rents) and utility bills (water and electricity)
- Supporting Corporation estates management-related litigation processes
- Letting and selling new and old estates (both residential and commercial)
- Conducting feasibility studies, property market surveys/studies, and/or supervising valuation/feasibility studies/exercises
- Collaborating with relevant directorates in preparing “cost-in-use” reports to determine the use of materials in construction works
- Supporting user requirement surveys in relation to accommodation, type, material use, ease of maintenance, and life cycle costs, and forwarding findings to the design team
- Conducting periodic rental assessments/surveys
- Supporting the process of title acquisition of property ownership documents
- Supporting the preparation and updating of the Corporation’s asset register
- Ensuring compliance with occupational safety and health regulations and guidelines
Person Specification:
- Diploma in Estates Management, Building Construction, Real Estate Management, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Fulfills the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Terms of Service and Remuneration
Positions in Grades 4 to 12 are permanent and pensionable. Successful candidates will receive a competitive remuneration package in line with the Corporation’s Salary Structure.
