Job Overview:

The Fleet Officer Intern will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the company’s fleet of vehicles. Responsibilities include handling queries related to motorcycles and vehicles in the fleet system, maintaining records of vehicle maintenance, and ensuring compliance with ENGIE’s safety standards as per the transport policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Management: Set and manage the strategic direction, priorities, and focus areas for sales commercial (sales, marketing, and business development), ensuring alignment throughout EEA-K.
  • Maintenance and Oversight: Ensure vehicles and vessels are properly maintained according to regulations, using knowledge of maritime law or transportation regulations for safe operation.
  • Organizing and Controlling: Schedule maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed, and direct related activities.
  • Budget Management: Manage the budget for vehicle repairs, replacements, and related expenses.
  • Training: Ensure drivers or vessel operators receive proper training to uphold safe operating standards.
  • Licensure and Registration: Manage vehicle licensure and registration.
  • Route and Schedule Efficiency: Establish efficient routes and transportation schedules for the fleet.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and safe practices, and provide management reports on budgeting, maintenance, and fleet progress.
  • Recruitment: Search for, hire, and train new drivers or vessel operators.
  • Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement: Develop methods to decrease costs and improve overall fleet efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in handling fleet operations management.
  • 5 years of driving experience with an up-to-date driving license.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box.
  • Hardworking with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Innovative thinking and ability to find creative solutions.
  • Attention to detail to prevent issues and improve fleet performance.
  • Proficiency in GPS tracking systems.
  • Experience in motor mechanics is an added advantage.

Qualification:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.

Language:

  • Proficiency in English and Swahili.

Technology:

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Fleet Operating Systems, and other Microsoft applications.
