113,000 Youth Needed for Kazi Mtaani 2025 Relaunch Under Climate Workx Program, The Kenyan government has officially announced the relaunch of the popular Kazi Mtaani program under a new and rebranded initiative called Climate Workx, set to begin on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. This revamped youth employment program aims to offer temporary jobs to over 113,000 young Kenyans aged 18 to 35, focusing on community service and environmental sustainability.
Climate Workx: A Dual-Focused Youth Empowerment Initiative
Administered through the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), in collaboration with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), the Climate Workx program is designed to tackle youth unemployment while advancing climate action and infrastructure development.
It’s more than just a job—Climate Workx promotes national values, civic engagement, and youth empowerment, positioning itself as a key part of Kenya’s green economy transition.
Key Objectives of the 2025 Climate Workx Program
- Provide short-term employment to Kenyan youth.

Job Roles & Descriptions
1. General Workers (Youth Participants)
General workers will take on hands-on tasks in their local communities, supporting both climate initiatives and public works.
Responsibilities:
- Road maintenance: clearing vegetation, drainage unclogging, pothole repairs.
- Environmental conservation: tree planting, watering, and care.
- Seedling nursery tasks: transplanting, pest control, composting.
- Public sanitation: cleaning streets, markets, and informal areas.
- Civic education: learn about hygiene, leadership, patriotism during off-days.
- Daily reporting and proper use of assigned tools and safety gear.
Work Schedule & Pay:
- Work in 10-day cycles (Monday–Friday).
- Paid KES 500 per day via M-Pesa after each cycle.
2. Supervisors
Supervisors will manage field activities, ensure team coordination, and submit reports to relevant authorities.
Key Duties:
- Lead and coordinate daily fieldwork.
- Allocate duties and supervise project execution.
- Ensure tool safety, worker discipline, and timely reporting.
- Act as a liaison between youth, government officials, and engineers.
Eligibility:
- Aged 18–35, residing in the area.
- Former NYS recruits preferred for their discipline and experience.
- Basic reporting and leadership skills required.
Pay:
- Supervisors earn KES 580 per day, paid via M-Pesa post each 10-day cycle.
Special Guidelines and Program Features
Gender Equality (50:50 Rule)
Recruitment will follow a strict 50% male and 50% female representation policy.
Inclusion of Persons With Disabilities (30%)
30% of slots reserved for youths living with disabilities to promote inclusivity.
One Beneficiary Per Household
Only one person per household is eligible to ensure fair and widespread benefit.
